It's a pretty good design especially since it's removable and low profile, however I don't like the split in the middle of the ring because while climbing a chimney at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon last weekend, the pouch was subject to a lot of tugging and manipulation well shimmying up the chimney and this caused a lot of tugging on the ring which resulted in it splitting apart. I can fix this by straightening it or flattening it with a pair of pliers but I don't want to have to do this repeatedly so my recommendation is to make the ring solid or change the design to something like a key ring that cannot come apart
Stronger than I thought it would be
the metal ring on this is the same as any other similar phone lanyard attachment. it's not a closed ring, and it's prone to twisting. lost my lanyard this way, all i have left is the fabric piece. (fortunately the phone stayed with me)
